Should You Be Dragging Knee?
A simple question: if the fastest riders are not focused on lean and dragging knee, then why are you? Are you personally faster when dragging knee? Safer? What is the fastest and safest way to ride?

    Agreed. . .knee out normally helps me more to push weight that way to turn into corner. .keep bike upright as possible for particular corner . .if you need to go lower to turn in then fine but nor for the sake of dragging your knee and thus possibly leaning to low that could cause a spill. .all relative

    You're absolutely correct & I have no idea why all these guys are riding like this on public streets? It endangers EVERYone on the road & where are they going in such a hurry? Those roads running up/down the Appalachian Mountains are some of the most beautiful roads in America so why not slow down and actually LQQK at the place while you are there? I have owned several bikes but all prior to 1995. My 1st was the Kz1000 in 1980-81. It was fast for the bikes of the day & I've had a couple of dirt bikes. I see the carnage on some of the famous Twisty Roads & it's great if you want to lean over but the second you're going over the speed limit You have decided to endanger every person out there. I'm not judging anyone, I think it should be done on closed areas(tracks). I'll be back out riding soon enough & I doubt I'll go to the places that they do their knee dragging but when speeding & doing this style of riding on ANY public roadways, it shows a disregard for the laws & other drivers. That's all I'm saying about it. Not judging them as I have been a Rider from before you were born. most likely. You take it easy & be wise in how you ride when other people's life hang in the balance of how good/bad a rider that you are? I hope/pray you never wreck & that you go 1/4 inch over every turn w/ your knees. Be safe is my only consideration b/c nothing else matters....... peace

      @@user-dv7hb2sc9m nobody buys a fast bike to go slow. . The speed limit has got nothing to do with safe riding practices and the limit of adhesion. Any speed is safe or unsafe depending on rider and circumstances. You are obviously not familiar with safe speeding practices. .and I suppose nor are the manufacturers since they make them hey. .well just another lobbyist that will keep robbing our freedom until we have nothing left. .bikers endanger mostly themselves and not others . .not exactly like tin cage drivers who don't care to indicate and can very likely kill others so I guess we should all walk from now on.

      I'm more on your side than you even know but you're not speaking about right to bear arms or free speech, I get why b/c I owned one of the faster bikes of my day & I did ride her fast. But I get it & IF there's something called on for "Safe Speeding", please share it here so I might take that to Court to argue my citations? I agree that riders mostly endanger their own body.... mostly? You haven't seen cars crash trying to avoid a motorcycle but now the cycle riders have turned it into an Us vrs Them scenario & it's not. Send me the link for safe speeding cuz I do want to look at the thing. I'd be with fighting to own w/o paying for tags, title, & BS like that >?> I'm with you all the way & I've been in the fight over government stuff since I first voted in 1980. I'll be out there soon w/ you & maybe you'll catch me lowering a knee but mine hurt pretty much these days. Fight for the Constitution, that's being taken but gas engines are on the chopping block as well. As a rider owning 39hp to 150hp bikes, Supermoto, Light weight, sportbike, superbike, I drag my knees on all of them if i need to. But im not focusing on dragging my knee, im focusing on leaning the bike the less possible with highest momentum. Wanting to drag the knee is bad. As an exemple, my supermoto, when my knee drag, it means in about to lowside. im grinding my shin of my boots at the same time. My other bikes were grinding my tip of my toes before the knee because the rearsets were not high enough so my leg was not bend enough. My issue was peg ground clearance. we should never forcing the knee to drag. Its safe to do it as a reference/ a guide. Im starting to leave my knee in while supermoto. To do it safe on all other bikes the ergo of the bike should be ajusted to suit you to do it right. Nevermind about chicken strips, the goal is that you still have room on the sides. Ride safe ❤

    Agreed, all of these things interlock together so as you get better in any one of them it'll propel you in the other as long as you've got somewhat of an idea about how you do these things & that you've made them your mission in how to flow thru the whole track. Well, I wouldn't expect any issues, when you buy new bike... A few of my friends ride FS450, they seem to be quite reliable, when regular maitenance is provided - this is not DR-Z when you may not care about it as much. Hope you will enjoy it long time!

      True about doing the maintenance, you gotta do it on these bikes & it's too much money not to take care but the things about the DRz is exactly why I'm looking at it to buy. But Yamaha/Honda offer some bikes that you don't need to check the top end for 20,000 miles...... that's a great selling point for those w/o the ability or money to do higher end maint. type stuff..... peace

      Respectfully there’s a lot of bikes that have a ton of issues after buying new, and a European bike purchased new with no issues down the road is the exception not the rule in supermoto. Vor, vertimati, husqvarna, husaberg, Ktm, all usually are a pita, or a worthy of some maintenance depending solely on perspective

      I've read that especially the European Bikes have high maintenance needs/costs & some problems. But I'm certain all bikes have their own weaknesses that YT Channels find & repair as part of their "content"? Since I've not ridden in yrs now, I'm researching hard trying to sort thru all the pros/cons. That's why I'm here at your humble abode, because I happen to like your approach & I ask questions b/c I have no real clues = that's how I learn since I don't actually have any bike yet. If I had money, I would buy any of the bikes you mentioned but not having much, I'd buy from reliable names who don't require a lot of maintenance. But it's true they all have stuff but I'm finding it difficult to determine if it's stuff that needs to be done or just a Channel looking for content? It does confuse me somewhat but again I come here to sort things out & you kindly help. Thanks for sharing man... peace

    And what’s the best for more flow?

    • @socalsupermoto
      @socalsupermoto Місяць тому

      Your question is flawed and includes the assumption that “more flow” is better. The 3x3 mod is garbage and the motorcycle doesn’t know if you are on the track or street.

      @@FawNeonVIIdo the mod bro! This dude goes in circles on a tiny track & thinks he knows everything about SM lol. Maybe for him it works. Fact is your bike is choked down from the factory for different reasons, they all are now! Do the 3x3, get that exhaust & whatever else. You'll thank me👍. FYI, more air is always better, may require more fuel but then you making more power.🦾🔥

    How good do the stock DRZ SM Rims hold up on jumps etc. ? Do they bend or break easy ? Or are you using aftermarket rims ?

    I'd want good quality pads on any bike..... stopping is arguably the most important function so having pads that work well & last are essential to safe riding, in my humble opinion. Thanks for the review. peace

      Same same! The point here is to not assume a pad is good of bad based on price. I absolutely hate those red carbon ebc pads. personal faves are the galfer sintered. They just always work well

      You Sir are an expert in bikes... lol, I'm old & looking to buy soon but my knowledge concerning brakes is just common sense. Stopping is Critical !! I'm curious about the aluminum rotors used on bikes ; do they have any problems like getting bent easy or warping due to heat? Thought I'd ask someone who pushes parts to the extreme..... peace & thanks for posting up
